#DailyDevotion Jesus Is The Son Of Man In Daniel 7

Pentecost Wednesday

Read Luke 22:47–71

Luk 22:69-70 But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”  (70)  So they all said, “Are you the Son of God, then?” And he said to them, “You say that I am.”

Dan 7:13-14  “I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him.  (14)  And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.

Jesus is invoking Daniel 7 when he says this to his accusers.  He is letting them know in no uncertain terms who they are getting ready to crucify.  Jesus, the Son of Man, who is to be given dominion, power, glory and an everlasting kingdom, is going to be crucified according to the plan of God at the hands of wicked men.

Jesus, begotten of the Father from all eternity, God of God, light of light, of very being and substance with the Father, now in the flesh, in the hands of men, gives himself over to death much like his ancestor Isaac did.  Knowing despite the pain and the shame on the 3rd day he would rise again even as Isaac was given back to his father Abraham on the 3rd day.

Jesus ascended to the right hand of the Father is coming back for those who put their trust in him.  He shall give to everyone who didn’t trust in him what they deserve. Dan 7:18 But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever, forever and ever.  That’s a long time but a good place.  Don’t be like the Pharisees who would not believe even if Jesus told them.  Be in that number of the saints for eternity.  Simply trust what Jesus has done for you.

Lord Jesus Christ, may you find me in that number of the saints when you return in glory.  Ever give me your Holy Spirit and your Word that I may be certain of my election to grace.  Amen.
