##DailyDevotion The Resurrection Of Our Bodies Is The Christian Faith
Ezekiel 37 11“Son of man,” He said to me, “these bones are all the people of Israel. They are saying, ‘Our bones are dry, and we’ve lost all hope. We’re completely cut off.’ 12So prophesy and tell them, “The Lord GOD says this: I will open your graves and raise you out of them, O My people, and bring you to the land of Israel. 13Then you will know I am the LORD when I open your graves and raise you out of your graves, O My people. 14I will put My Spirit in you so you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know I the LORD said it and I did it, says the LORD.””
In the midst of their hopelessness, the LORD, the God of Israel gives the Jews hope. Though the people complain about a situation they themselves caused by their own sins saying, “Our bones are dry, and we’ve lost all hope. We’re completely cut off,” he gives them this vision and promise of a better day. So now Ezekiel foretells of that better day by the Spirit of the LORD.
What we have here is one of the clearest teachings of the resurrection of the body, the physical body, on the day of the LORD. He is promising one day to raise his people from their graves. The LORD Jesus is going to open their graves and raise them out of their graves. He will put His Spirit in them to make them live and settle in their own land. When HE does this they will truly know He is the LORD and that He did it.
This is parallel to the New Testament Jeremiah prophecies in chapter 31, 33“’But this is the covenant I will make with Israel after those days,’ says the LORD: ‘I will put My law within them and write it on their hearts, and so I will be their God, and they will be My people. 34 And no more will anyone have to teach his neighbor or his brother, and say, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know Me, from the least to the greatest of them says the LORD, because I will forgive the wrong they did and not remember their sins anymore.’” In Ezekiel they know the LORD by the resurrection and in Jeremiah they know by through the forgiveness of sins. In both He puts His Spirit in them.
For now, we have a foretaste of this to come. He has put His Spirit into everyone who believes and trust in the LORD Jesus Christ, who is the resurrection and the life. He proclaims to us the forgiveness of sins and resurrects our hearts by His Spirit so we may know and believe in Him. On the Last Day, Jesus, the LORD, will raise all who believed in Him, in the Old and New Testaments and give them the Promised Land, the New Heavens and New Earth. Yet so powerful is Jesus’ resurrection, he even raises from the dead all who did not believe in Him and rejected him and give them their own place too, the Lake of Fire. The resurrection of our physical bodies by the LORD Jesus Christ is a primary Christian teaching Christ has given us. Without it, we are nothing but pagans and do not have faith in the Jesus of the Bible. We are not saved by him to be bodiless souls, floating on the clouds and strumming our harps. We are saved to live in our bodies, which he redeemed by the sacrifice and resurrection of His body. That is our Christian hope foretold by Ezekiel today. Put your trust in Jesus’ and his resurrection so you may live in that hope today.

Heavenly Father, you have promised we will truly know you and your Son Jesus Christ, the LORD, when He raises us from the dead and settles us in our own land. Grant us faith to believe this so on that day we will receive what your promised. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
