#DailyDevotion The LORD Will Hear And Answer Your Prayers

Psalm 20 (Chorus:) May the LORD answer you when you’re in trouble! May the name of Jacob’s God lift you up on a safe height. 2May He send you help from His holy place and support you from Zion. 3May He remember all your gifts and accept your burnt offerings. (Music) 4May He give you your heart’s desire and carry out all your plans. 5Then we’ll shout joyfully over the victory given you and in our God’s name wave our banners. May the LORD give you everything you ask for.

So it appears the tabernacle has a chorus who sings to those who are giving their offerings to the LORD. They are blessing the worshipers with five blessings.

First, may the LORD answer you when you’re in trouble. This not a mere wish as we sometimes say, “bless you” when you sneeze. We have a promise when we call upon the LORD He will not disappoint us. We have a promise from 1 Peter 5, “7Turn all your worry over to Him because He cares for you.” God’s care for you does not fail or cease. Jesus promised us, “Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you.”

Secondly, may the name of Jacob’s God lift you up on a safe height. Jesus tells us, “Ask anything of the Father in my name and He will do it for you.” In John 16 Jesus says, “I tell you the truth, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. 24So far you haven’t asked for anything in My name. Ask and you will receive and your joy will be complete.” Jesus is the name of Jacob’s God.

Thirdly, we are blessed with the words, “May He send you help from His holy place.” Our Father most certainly, when He hears our cries for mercy, sends an answer from His temple in heaven. He dispatches his angels to minister to us in our time of need. He provides for us help in the manner that is best for us. We may not always understand it at the time but when we see Him we will then know how the LORD’s answers to our prayers worked out for the best in the long run.

Fourthly, the blessing is the LORD would remember our gifts and sacrifices. We often get the mistaken idea that the offerings, tithes and the like we give to the church are for the Church and the pastor. While the LORD may use those gifts to bless the pastor and the Church, they are received by Him with the faith we offered them to Him. Those offerings given in faith and thanksgiving for all the LORD Jesus Christ has done for us are most certainly remembered by our Father in heaven and we will most certainly will not lose our reward.

Fifthly, we are assured the LORD will give us all that we ask for. This is somewhat tempered in 1 John 5, “14We have confidence in God that if we ask for anything according to His will, He listens to us. 15And if we know that He listens to us whatever we ask, we know that we will get what we ask Him for.” The LORD is not going to give or do for us something opposed to His holy will. For that reason, when we pray, we conform our request to the things God has promised us in His holy word. If we are asking with faith in the name of Jesus, then our request will conform to His will. Our hearts desire and our plans will be His desire and plans. When God answers our prayers and we see it, then we’ll all shout joyfully and in God’s name wave his banners.

Heavenly Father, give us your Holy Spirit and your Word, so our will and prayers will be your will and desire for us and we may sing your glory. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
