Psalm 33 6The LORD made the heavens by His Word, and all the stars by the Breath of His mouth. 7He gathers the water of the sea in a jar and puts the deep waters in storage. 8The whole earth should fear the LORD, and all who live in the world be in awe of Him. 9He spoke and it was, He ordered and it came into being.

The Psalm continues in its praise of the LORD. Remember, to praise the LORD is more than shouting, “Hallelujah!” or “Praise the LORD!” Those are invitations to praise. To praise someone is to tell what great things they have done. Here, the psalmist praises the LORD for creation and how He made it. He made it by His Word. He spoke it into being.

In the Gospel of John it is written in chapter one, “IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3Everything was made by Him, and not one thing that was made was made without Him.” Again, it is written, “10He was in the world, and He made the world, and the world didn’t know Him.” Paul writes in Col. 1, “16since in Him was created everything visible and invisible in heaven and on earth — thrones, lords, rulers, or powers — everything was created by Him and for Him.” The book of Hebrews says in chapter 1, “2but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, Whom He made the heir of everything and by Whom He made the world.”

So we see here, the Father through and by His only-begotten Son, the Word of God, made the heavens and the stars. He gathered the seas and made the dry land. By the speaking of the Word, He brought all things into being. For this reason, we should fear, that is, worship and be in awe of the Father and the Son, who are one with the Holy Spirit, who brooded over the waters. We can look at the beauty, the power and the majesty of creation and say, “Thank you Jesus.” It is this very Jesus, by whom and through whom all things are made, who even as He called Lazarus out of the grave, will call all humanity out of the graves, give immortality to all who believed in Him, and make a new heavens and a new earth for us.

10The LORD makes the plans of the nations fail; He hinders them in what they propose to do. 11But what the LORD plans stands firm forever; what He proposes is for all generations.

Man proposes and God disposes. The LORD makes the plans of the nations fail. Nations and tyrants seek to make a one world government under themselves. It started with the Tower of Babel and the LORD scattered the nations to the places He appointed for them. One nation after another seeks to dominate the globe and subject all people to its will and power. Every one of them fails. It may be the United States today. It could be the United Nations. It could be China or Russia. It could be wealthy bankers or globalist corporations. They will all fail.

The world, creation, can only have one King. That King is our LORD Jesus Christ. Paul writes in 1 Cor. 15, “27You see, He puts everything under His feet. When He says ‘everything is put under Him,’ this clearly doesn’t include Him Who puts everything under Him. 28But when everything has been put under Him, then the Son also will put Himself under Him Who put everything under the Son so that God will be everything in everything.” So we need not fear the nations nor tyrants. They have nothing on Jesus Christ our LORD. He is King forever. Blessed be His name.

Heavenly Father, you created all things by Your Word, our LORD Jesus Christ, for Him. You put all things under His feet. Grant us faith in Jesus so that at the resurrection on the Last Day, we may reign with Him for all eternity. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
