#DailyDevotion Every Tongue Will Confess Jesus Is Yahweh

Phil. 2:9-10 9That is why God also exalted Him up on high and gave Him the name above every other name 10that at the name of JESUS everyone in heaven and on earth and under the earth should kneel, and everyone should confess, “JESUS CHRIST IS LORD!” and so glorify God the Father.

Because Jesus so humbled himself to the point of death, even death on a cross, to save mankind from their sins and overcome death and the devil, God the Father exalted him on high, to his right hand. He has given Jesus the name above every other name. James in chapter for says, “6But He gives a greater blessing. And so it says: ‘God opposes the proud but is gracious to the humble.’” and then “10Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” Jesus humbled himself and the Father lifted him up to his right hand. When we humble ourselves before God, confess our sins, when we empty ourselves out and serve one another on account of faith in this same Jesus, God the Father also lifts us up to the heavenly places. (Eph. 2)

On the day of revelation of Jesus Christ comes and he appears with all his angelic hosts to judge the earth, every knee shall bow at the name of Jesus. Some will bow because of the rod, for they opposed him all their lives. Those who followed him on this earth will do so with great joy. Hopefully, you’ll be one of those bowing to their knees with joy.

As we all bow we will confess Jesus Christ is LORD! Now what does this mean? There are a few places in the New Testament where Jesus is called Lord, as in king, ruler, despot, master and the like. Now many heretics likes the Mormons, Jehovah’s witnesses, Gnostics, and even Jews and Muslims could say Jesus is a lord such as these meanings. But for now, “no one is able to say, ‘Jesus is the Lord’, except by the Holy Spirit.” (1 Cor. 12:4)You see, the confession of all creatures in all creation bowing the knee and confessing Jesus is LORD, some joyfully and some under compulsion are confessing something particular we can only confess by the Holy Spirit in faith right now. When we confess Jesus is LORD right now, we mean is the the LORD in all those places you read in your Old Testament where LORD is in all capital letters. The meaning behind that is Jesus is YHWY, Yahweh, sometimes pronounced Jehovah.

So you could read some of the Genesis text like this. Gen. 2, “4This is the history of heaven and earth when they were created in the day when Jesus God made earth and heaven.” Gen. 3, “8At the time of day when there was a breeze, they heard Jesus God walking in the garden, and the man and his wife hid from the Jesus God among the trees in the garden.” Gen. 15, “6Abram believed Jesus, and so Jesus counted it to him as righteousness.” And in Ex. 3, “15Again God talked to Moses: ‘Tell Israel: Jesus, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, sends me to you.’” Let us now confess then boldly and with faith, Jesus Christ is LORD to the glory of God the Father.

Heavenly Father, always give us your Holy Spirit that we may confess Jesus Christ is LORD to your glory now so on the day of his revelation we may confess it with freely with joy. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
