Mark 10:35-41 ³⁵James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him. “Teacher,” they said to Him, “we want you to do for us what we ask.” ³⁶“What do you want Me to do for You?” He asked them. ³⁷“Let one of us sit at Your right,” they told Him, “and the other at Your left in Your glory.” ³⁸“You don’t know what you’re asking,” Jesus answered them. “Can you drink the cup I’m drinking or be baptized with the baptism with which I’m being baptized?” ³⁹“We can,” they told Him. “You’ll drink the cup I’m drinking,” Jesus told them, “and be baptized with the baptism with which I’m being baptized. ⁴⁰But sitting at My right or left is something I can give only to those for whom it is prepared.” ⁴¹When the other ten heard about it, they became angry with James and John.
