    # Those Who Reject Jesus As Savior Will Meet Him As Judge. Mat 21:41-46 They said to him, “He will put those wretches to a miserable death and let out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons.” (42) Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: “‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes’? (43) Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits. (44) And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.” (45) When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he was speaking about them. (46) And although they were seeking to arrest him, they feared the crowds, because they held him to be a prophet.

By their own words the chief priest and the Pharisees condemned themselves. Like their fathers before them, they persecuted and killed the prophets who were sent to them. Their fathers did not listen to the prophets, so the nations surrounding Israel were continually defeating them eventually having the Assyrians take the northern tribes into exile and a couple of hundred years later the Babylonians took the southern tribes into exile. God sent the Greeks to punish them and finally the Romans who made an end to the temple never to be built again, because now God is building for himself a temple not made with human hands.

The leadership of the Pharisees and priest would be taken from them. God would make all who trust in his son Jesus to kings and priests with Jesus as their high priest and king. He would take from his people men to be pastors who would keep all the Lord Jesus had taught them and to teach the people of the world, that they too would come to faith in him and become kings and priests in the temple of God the Father.

Jesus is gathering to this day men, women and children from all walks of life, all situations of life and giving his kingdom to them. It doesn’t matter what sins have preceded their faith or how weak in faith they may be and they fall back into sin only to repent of those sins and return to Jesus, he gives the kingdom to such as will be humble and put their trust in him alone.

In the end, those who oppose the free gift of the kingdom of God and those who oppose Christ Jesus as their king, though the opportunity for repentance and faith were given to them, they will be crushed by the Lord Jesus Christ. They will be cast into the lake of fire where they will be tormented day and night. Those who look to Jesus alone for the forgiveness of their sins, who trust in his promise of eternal life, they will be raised or transformed from the dead to live with him in his kingdom in the new heavens and new earth.

Lord Jesus Christ, grant unto the gift of repentance, that we may confess our sins, trust in your promise of mercy and eternal life and turn away from a life of unbelief and sin. Amen.
