#DailyDevotion We Are In The Last Days

Daniel 12:1–3                1“At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.

From this and other passages in Daniel it appears there are different angels in charge of different peoples. Some may be fallen angles as we see that Michael had been contending with the angels in charge of Persia. Gabriel who gives the meaning of Daniel’s dreams is assisted by Michael. In Revelation Michael defeats Lucifer the great dragon. While some believe this was at the beginning of time, I think that when the disciples of Jesus were proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God and casting out demons, Jesus said he saw Satan from the heavens like lightning from the sky.

Since that time we have entered into the last days. Great tribulation has come down upon the children of men, especially those who worship Jesus, the Lord. When Jesus came God’s people were delivered from sin, death and the power of the devil. Indeed, it was for the redemption of the world Jesus, the Lord, became man and offered himself up as a sacrifice for sin. The message of this good news has gone over the earth. All who believe and believed this message and remain faithful to the end are those who are written in the book, the Lamb’s book of life. Never the less, as bad as it may seem at times, it can and it will get worse until the very end. Many will follow him thinking he will be able solve the world’s problems. But he ultimately will bring death and destruction upon the earth like no other. But he will not last. Our Lord Jesus Christ will return again at this time and cast him down and all who follow and worship him.

When Christ Jesus returns will all his angels he will remove from the earth all wickedness and all the wicked. He shall raise the dead and he shall judge the living (those who believed God’s promises in him) and the dead (those who did not believe on Jesus). The dead shall be cast into the lake of fire where the fallen angels are tormented forever because of their rebellion against the Lord. On that day we who trusted in Jesus, who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky. We shall bear the glory of God, the righteousness of Jesus, for we shall see Jesus as he is and be conformed to his image and likeness. Those who shared the good news of Jesus with other and converted them to Jesus, to life, shall shine like the stars above. That will be their glory.

So where will you be on that day? Will you be with the living, who trusted in what Christ Jesus has done for them and shine like the brightness of the sky? Will you be with the dead, cast into the lake of fire to be tormented alongside the devil because you would not accept the gift of God?

Grant us faith Heavenly Father, that we may judged worthy on the day of revelation, through your Son Jesus Christ, to be in the Lamb’s Book of Life and be raised to everlasting life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
